    What happens if you click the link in this? (attached)
    - and make sure you reverse the registry change made previously..

    As expected, it opens the web page in my default browser.

    And what do you have here?

    UPDATE- This problem is not limited to Excel, so it's possibly back to Windows 10 as the problem
    I received some emails containing image files, and clicking on any of them normally would open the file with the Windows default program, but like Excel, I keep getting the "how do you want to open this file?" every time.

    Thanks, I did look there when you suggested it earlier. The only thing I haven't tried is to create a new user/profile.
