Looks like I've fixed the problem. I ran OneDriveSetup.exe from C:\Windows\System32. I got a message saying that an update was required, the updated file was downloaded, run, and all was ok afterwards.

What's strange for me is that OneNote is correctly syncing and accessing OneDrive. It's like the desktop app is just invisible. It doesn't show in File Explorer either.

I tried running the OneDriveSetup.exe file and it said I had a newer version already, and that I must uninstall that one first. I tried that through the start menu (right click, uninstall), but it's still there.

The new file won't install over that.

Okay...just fixed it. Rolled back to a restore point I made a few days ago. Moral of the story: make restore points.

You should have a Onedrive icon in the notification part of you taskbar if you do not right click on the taskbar then properties find Onedrive and turn it on.

Now right click on the icon and go to settings then unlink this computer this will take everything to do with Onedrive off your computer.

Then right click again and this time link this computer go through the set up instructions you can now change where you want to put your files and also what files to sync.

It could take a while to download them all depending on how big your files are. But you should now have the Onedrive link back in explorer and all your files where you want them!

    Worked like a charm-- THANKS!!!
