    Webm file to mp4 converter

When i download videos from Youtube most them are downloaded as Webm / HTML file which my default media player don't play.
I have tried various online converters but some don't convert Webm file correctly...some of Mozilla Firefox add-ons don't convert them properly either... I know Youtube use HTML player not Flash Player due security issues..

Do i have to buy a webm file to mp4 converter ?

    Thank you

FFmpeg is a free Open Source command line utility that can convert almost any known video or audio format into any other (amongst its many other functions).

    Thank you for reply Bree,

I am not fully conversant with command line processes ( I have tried Linux ...gave me lot of problems )

Anyway, managed to find a cheap video converter ..Movavi which did what i want...even though i mainly use Freemake Video Converter which does not convert Webm files.

FFmpeg uses unix-like syntax, it can take a bit of getting used to but the benefits are enormous. Apart from video conversion it can crop, rescale, edit, trim and join together video clips.

I use it 'raw' from the command line, writing a .bat file containing a sequence of commands to perform complex editing. However, for the simpler functions, there are graphical UI front ends available... https://github.com/amiaopensource/ffmpeg-amia-wiki/wiki/3)-
...including Handbrake which uses FFmpeg behind the scenes for all its video processing. Handbrake is therefore a near-universal format converter (and it's free).

Thankyou for info...i leave syntax, coding etc behind and use simpler methods...you have got to know what you are doing with complex methods....obviously it is easier for you as you are experienced unlike me as i am not that PC tech...just slightly above average.

    Bye.Have a nice weekend.
