    Thanx,

In desperation, before I got your post about " Tweaking.com's ", I tried again booting on the w10 USB & this time managed to get to the REPAIR.

The repair said about files but, when completed in 15mnts IE opened & also photos open but Garmin Express to update the maps of my Satnav failed giving same reason as posted earlier.

Regarding the REGISTREE Importing I am too scared to try it now.

Could the start up repair I made repair the Registry?

If I try this " Tweaking.com's" do you think will repair the Registry or I'll get into trouble again?

As I said, Startup repair has nothing whatsoever to do with registry problems. Startup problems relate to booting problems to do with areas of your disk outside the Windows partition.

    Please follow what I suggest.

    Thanx dalchina,

I run your " Tweaking.com's " on the Registry, now the photos open but Garmin Express is not working on PC W10 but, it worked on a Laptop W8.

I do not dare try if I can import in the registry which was my main problem giving the error given in post #7.

Also used it on IE 11 & seems to work a bit better now.

Is so many repairs it can do seems amazing.

Hi, naturally this is a guessing game, 'cos I've no idea what might have changed permissions like that.. but now that's been done, and we know your disk and file system are ok, you could try reinstalling Garmin Express, if you've not done that. Make sure you've got the latest version.

It simply says 'Vista or later' - so presumably shouldn't be a problem.

Tried it 7-8 times & just in case I tried it now with GE v5.7.1.0, which I uninstalled & installed 3-4 times & always same version comes up, but it fails giving "C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{249CFC92-210D-401D-89AF-5B40B60BC3F4}v5.1.1.0" can not be found.

I tried to download it without effect. How it should been put there I have no Idea. ..........thanx anyway your help is invaluable.

Well, there's an outside possibility that could occur because the program can't access it because of file permission problems..

So you could try repair 2 and 3 using the same tool.

Before making changes to your system I would recommend due caution: create a disk image (we repeatedly recommend users routinely use disk imaging as it often lets people recover quickly and relatively painlessly to a previous working state, without technical help- even if their disk fails or is infected with ransomware, for example). Macrium Reflect (free) + an external disk to store disk image sets.

I can confirm it installs ok on mine (build 1703). (I'm running as admin).

    Thanx again

I run it as Admin too & still says "Could not install on this PC".

    It does not mention permissions.

Does your build 1703 refers to Garmin Express Version? Mine is v 5.7.1.0

MAP INSTALL found my Nuvi 40(Unit ID 38510818328) & gave this notice:-"No unlocked maps were found for this device."

No, I wasn't saying run it as admin.

    1. Use the Tweaking.com repair tool:
So you could try repair 2 and 3 using the same tool.
    - please do that.

    2. Try reinstalling the program.

I simply meant my user account is an admin account.
