    default pdf reader

I had foxit, it would not open pdf files as default, edge, firefox, chrome, they all opened as default depending which browser I was using.
Uninstalled foxit, removed all traces with revo uninstaller.
    Reinstalled foxit as default.
Went to apps and made foxit default.
Pdf's from any website when clicked on open in browser window.
It is just a minor annoyance but I expect my computer to do what I tell it.

Hi Wood, I can help you with Firefox. But I dont use Chrome and Edge, I only open it to make sure is working.

    Firefox:

    1. Open about:config and search for "pdfjs.disabled", change the value to true

    2. In Firefox Options/General, scroll down to Files and Applications, for PDF File, Select "Always Ask".

You can't set the default program from inside a prog - since Win 8.

    e.g.

OR rt click a pdf, Open With - but be careful to navigate all through that menu and tick the box.

Hi dalchina, he knows that. He did set Foxit as default PDF Reader in default apps. Read the opening post. But even after you do that, Firefox still opens PDF files using its own PDF Reader.

So, if you dont want to use the PDF Reader built in Firefox and use Foxit instead, you have to disable the Firefox PDF Reader first. Thats what you get when you change "pdfjs.disabled", to true in about:config.

After that, he needs to go to Firefox Options/General, scroll down to Files and Applications, and for PDF File, Select an option. I like"Always Ask" because it opens a pop up when you click on a PDF in a web page, the pop up gives the options to save or open the PDF. If you are using Firefox, is easy to check, create a new profile and test.

    Chrome:
Settings/Advanced/Privacy and security/Content settings/PDF documents/Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome►On/Off
