Windows 10 Creators uninstall program automatically and block install

    Hi.
Guys, I have serious problems here.
Windows 10 creators update unistalled my old version of Firebird Program without my consent!
More than that, after the update/upgrade, windows 10 creators is blocking any attempt to reinstall the program!
I have already check te option active in my setting -> Apps -> Allow apps from anywhere is selected.
So, I don't have a Windows Store restriction, but windows is blocking the installation anyway.
I need to bypass it urgently.
How can I do that? Hope you guys can save me.
    Thank you.

It presumably deems it incompatible. Great behaviour, I grant you. I recall this sort of behaviour in build upgrades way back. You do have the right to revert to the previous build within 10 days- the problem would be keeping it. However that's not an ideal solution.

I take it you don't mean this Firebird though:

as you are referring to the Store - where I can't see a reference.

The software our company uses is only compatible with the old version of FireBird.
What I want is to bypass windows block. Windows may recommend me not to use a software, but now
to choose what I can and what I can't install in it. I'll keep waiting for a solution.
    Thank you.

    1. What version of the program are you using?
    2. Where did you obtain it from?
    3. What is the precise error message you see?

The more precise information you can give the more accurate any response may be.

If it won't run in the Creator's Build, you could run it in a VM (virtual machine - an earlier OS running 'under' Win 10).

It is unsigned, so Win 10 will not install it.
    Is it a Smartscreen issue?

Is this the notification you receive (or similar?)

Here I upload the screen I get with the error message. It's in Portuguese, but I'll translate it:
    In blue color:
This program cannot be installed in this computer.
    Black color:
Firebird doesn't work in this version of Windows. One updated version of it might be available.

I tried installing it, which seemed to go ok, but there was nothing useful in the start menu to launch it. I changed the default install path, and unticked 3 options on installing it. Some of the shortcuts (pdf, URL) didn't point to anything correctly. I was unimpressed...

So I tried again, accepting the defaults. It installed, ran ok, no error messages:

I tried installing it from dalchina's link on Win 10 Pro x86 16299.15. Firebird 3.0 installed and ran.

Then I uninstalled it and tried Firebird 2.5 http://www.firebirdsql.org/en/firebird-2-5/#Win32

That appeared to install, but nothing ran. Apparently installing to a folder NOT in Program Files may fix that. I didn't try...

Regarding the blocking of the install, look at the properties of the installer you are trying to run. Does it say 'This application came from another computer and might be blocked...'? If so, see this tutorial...

    Hi.
Firebird version 1.5 is the one I need to install. Firebird 2.5 and 3.0 can be installed without a problem since they are the most recent versions of it. Both 2.5 and 3.0 are incompatible with the program I use. So, installing both of this version is not the problem.
I have This version of firebird for many years already, so I am not downloading from anywhere. More than that, the program was already inside the machine since the program was previously installed. Like I said, windows upgraded to Creators and forcefully uninstalled the firebird and now it blocks any attempt to install it.

Windows 10 has additional security features to block unsigned programs, if that's the problem.

    Have you tried compatibility mode?

Things move on... Out of curiosity did you upgrade from the Anniversary build or Win7 e.g?

As I said, you could use a VM under Win 10, or a dedicated PC running an older OS.

The use of a VM is unpracticable. I would have to install it in every single machine. It's not a matter of one machine.
In this firebird file, right click of the mouse, properties, there is not any option of compatibility anymore.
I don't know if windows removed this feature in the creators version or if it not not available only in this file.
Anyway, I'll upload the file to some online file hoster and link here the address for you guys to download it and try to find a way to bypass the windows block. Thank you.
