There is a free or trial edition for HD Sentinel. Use the trial edition.
When we evaluate drives the following studies are typically performed by one or more software applications:
    SMART
    Error scan
    Health Scan
    Benchmark
    Short and long generic
    chkdsk /x /r
    These are usually accomplished with:
    HD Tune
    HD Sentinel
    Crystal Disk
    Sea Tools for Windows

There are many other alternatives to HD Tune. The software listed above are the ones we typically use in the BSOD forum.

    Thanks!

I'm trying to find the correct version of SeaTools from Seagate to download.

Is this the correct link to download?

    EDIT:
I've already got HD Tune installed and running, but it's only the free version and not HD Tune Pro.

NEW SERIOUS PROBLEM: Is my hard drive dying?

Hey guys, I didn't want to waste forum space so I didn't create a new thread, but I really need help.

I've noticed that whenever my hard drive is under full load it can only reach 50% in Task Manager's column that's titled "Disk" and it can't reach 100%.

Does this mean my hard drive is about to die?

Please post the results of the drive tests.
    1) surface or error scan
    2) health, or SMART
    3) benchmark
    4) long generic
    5) chkdsk /x /f /r

I just ran a "Quick scan" using HD Tune 2.55 (free version) and it reported no errors.

I'm trying to run a scan using "SeaTools" now.

    Thanks!

    EDIT:
I had some issues with SeaTools so I'll try it later.

I'm going to run a scan using Windows 10's inbuilt app called "Error Checking" as specified here in Option 2: Drive Error Checking in Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials

    EDIT 2:

I just finished running a scan using Window 10's inbuilt app "Error Checking" and it said it completed the scan and didn't find any errors, but during the scan it said it had 2 hours remaining, but then 1 minute later it said that the scan was completed...??? I ran the scan again and it did the same thing...........

    What does this mean?

SeaTools just finished a "ShortDST" scan and it says "FAIL" in red writing...

I also rebooted my PC to see if that would make a difference, but it didn't as the "Disk" column in Task Manager can only reach 50%.

    EDIT:

    What should I do now?

    EDIT2:
I just checked and ShortDST stands for "Short Drive Self Test"

    EDIT3:
SeaTools just finished running a "Short Generic" test and it says "Pass" in green writing.

    Okay sure.

I'm running the Long Test in SeaTools now, but it's only at 18%.

I'm not sure what you mean by posting an image of the Short and Long Generic Tests in SeaTools because AFAIK at the end of the test it only displays "PASS" or "FAIL"?

    Thanks!
