Windows 10 Store and other Apps not working
For many weeks my wife’s PC has had a problem with running the Store (and other) Apps. The problems started shortly after Creators Edition Update was installed.
Manifestation is that when Windows Store is started, the square splash screen is shown, with logo in centre, but proceeds no further. If other already installed Apps are started (e.g. Microsoft Jigsaw), the splash screen is shown, with App name in centre, but it proceeds no further.
PC is running latest (UK) version of Windows 10. Security S/W is MS Defender only.
I have spent many, many days investigating the problem, with zero success. I have searched the web and read many, many posts on related subject. The steps I have taken include the following; most of the steps I have repeated several times (there are a few other steps I have taken, but I regret I did not record them accurately):
1. Run wsreset as admin (never completes)
2. Run Troubleshooter Windows Store Apps (never completes)
3. Run Troubleshooter Windows Update, & Networking
4. Using Powershell, re-installed Store App
5. Using Powershell, re-installed All Apps
6. Ran SFC / scannow
7. Ran DISM repair mode
8. Full Defender Virus Scan
9. Full chckdsk
10. Created another user, logged on as that user, tried Store App (U/S)
11. Deleted Update History folders
12. Ran Regcure pro tool
13. Purchased and ran reimage tool (claims to fix everything!)
Errors in Event Log
After boot, before running anything, I see the following as the first 3 errors at start of Event System Log:
The LoadUserProfile call failed
The configuration registry database is corrupt
The connected Devices Platform Service Terminated
Unspecified Error
The Windows Licence Manager Terminated
General Access Denied Error
Other errors
I also have seen the following errors displayed at times:
error 0x80080005 (=BITS error)
MS-windows store:PurgeCaches timed out
What next?
Any suggestions please as to what I can try next? I am reluctant to perform a Reset, as that may not work and will require that I re-install all the non-store non-default Desktop Applications on the PC. Any help will be really appreciated.
Does anyone know if the big October Creators Update is actually a non-destructive re-install of Windows 10, and therefore may fix the problem?
