Same here, spotted it yesterday and thought would give it a go. Then I've found this thread.

As a side comment: I am genuinely surprised that I see the same errors on and on again - of which some (most?) originate from Vista times...!

Oh thank goodness it's not just me. I updated to 1703 Creators Update yesterday. Tried updating Mail/Calender app from the Store but keeps returning the error code 0x80073CF0.

I am in no way going to start messing about trying to get it to update and I'm certainly not going to jump through hoops trying to delete it and re-install. At least it still working and that's the main thing. All other apps from the store are downloading and installing fine except Mail so I'm assuming it has to be a problem at Microsofts end. Hopefully, it will get sorted.

Hmmm, I hoped it was all sorted. Useless. Maybe MS should get Apple in to troubleshoot, their App Store updates never fail and they don’t update their native apps every five minutes or through the store!!!

I just fixed it after trying to update for 2 days. I'd been clicking the refresh/retry icon and it tried to download but kept failing. I just pressed the X (cancel) icon to remove the update, then clicked the Get Updates button. The update reappeared, I clicked to start the update, and it went through correctly this time. It's a bit weird, but at least I could fix it through the UI and not rummage around in the files. Perhaps Microsoft fixed something in the meantime, but I wasn't able to get past it by clicking retry all the time.

Note: This is for the Mail and Calendar app, and I'm now on version 17.8500.40955.0

What I am noticing is that if you bring up Task Manager and check your ethernet connection under the Performance tab whilst trying to download the Mail app from the Store is that there are constant disconnections to the server. The amount of peaks and dips in the wave line is incredible with big gaps between the peaks.

Looking at the Send and receive data at the bottom on the same page sometimes will show 0 on both counts and the wave line disappears indicating disconnection from the servers. This is causing the download to freeze when this happens. it comes and goes intermittently.

I know it's not my end because I'm surfing the Internet with no problems and all the other Store apps have downloaded fine.

OK....turned PC on and it updated on it's own.....says "modified minutes ago 17.8500.40955.0. So I'm all fixed. Which leads to the bigger question: What the heck caused it and what did MS do to fix it.
