Can't you side load it from somewhere ?

The only place you can download Microsoft games is from the Window Stores as far as I know (or from an Xbox One which is what I'm having to do so I can play this game on 29th, thanks to the PlayAnywhere scheme that grants you a PC and Xbox One copy of a game).
I know the Store is working as Halo Wars 2 downloaded a 25 GB update yesterday (no doubt for the expansion pack which it forces you to install even if you didn't buy it) plus a number of smaller apps such as Daily Mail Online also installed without issue. I suspect the issue is specifically with Forza Motorsport 7 but until Turn 10/Microsoft acknowledge it let alone fix it then it's anyone's guess as to when we'll be able to play it.
Seems all is back in working order this morning. Just checked the store and three apps (including Mail and Calendar) have downloaded and updated.
25 gig update, wow. That's not a good one to get caught with especially if you just casually turned on the computer to look at something! Unfortunately my confidence in the store is so low I'd never trust it as a games market/provider unless they are for smaller more basic games. I just stick with Steam or Origin. Am a little bit more relaxed with Xbox games but the Xbox seems less likely to go into meltdown or do unexpected things than Windows 10 is. But as at this morning all seems ok, I got Daily Mail update ok, Films/TV and mail and calendar went through. Hopefully I will get home this evening and there will be no pesky native app updates waiting. Could do with a break from Microsoft and it's app updating. I've had problems before with native apps updating and screwing things up not on the account they are updated but for other family user accounts of the PC when they go to use them, sometimes requiring a reset of the offending app.
@ Scottyboy99 - I think the Halo Wars 2 "update" was 25 GB because it includes the recently released expansion even though I haven't bought. The insulting thing is that I bought the Ultimate/Definitive Edition of Halo Wars 2, which included the remake of the first Xbox 360 game and a Season Pass, but this £17 expansion is not included in the package!!! Of course, I've had to download it even though I cannot play it without paying for it.
Microsoft, eh? What are we to do with 'em? ;-)
