Over the past few days, the Skype, Photos and Films & TV updates have *finally* updated after many, many attempts. All that remains is a failed install for the Mail and Calendar app.

Not sure why this has happened as generally Windows Store apps install fine (moving them from one drive to another location is another matter though...) but it seems to have started since the new Store update appeared (the one that rebrands it to Microsoft Store and gives it a icon with the coloured flag inside it).

Yes today I am getting same error for mail and calendar. What on earth is going on with Microsoft at the moment? This is unacceptable!

Am tired of their ineptness. I’ve left feedback, tweeted mictosofthelps and posted on their useless answers forum. Maybe they will take note but I expect another canned response about clearing cache etc or better still ‘reinstall windows’!

They should keep default APPs out of the Store, even Candy Crash got update before Films&TV.

Agree on that, the native apps updating are annoying. Mail and calendar seems to get an update every time the wind changes direction. The way I see it the more times they update an app the more chance they have of breaking it. The native apps being updated have not played nice for other user accounts on my machines in the past.

The Mail and Calendar app *finally* updated last night after four days and many, many attempts.

Alas, I now have another more concerning issue... the Forza Motorsport 7 Ultimate Edition pre-order which I paid £79.99 for last week refuses to download. I started downloading it yesterday morning prior to going to work and it had completed 2 GB of its 95 GB install before I left so I left my PC on in the hope that it would download a sizeable chunk by the time I got home at 5:30pm. Instead, I was greeted with a halted install and an error which on clicking on Retry reset the counter back to 0% before it failed again a few minutes later.

Subsequent attempts to get the game to download have failed and there's a growing number of people with the issue over the Turn 10 forums. While the Windows Store is fine for smaller smartphone apps and games, it is utterly atrocious in my experience for downloading games of 25+ GB. The bigger the game the more likely it is that it will stall part way through and restart from the beginning on retrying. I had Quantum Break download 68 GB (of 70 GB) before it decided to halt and then restart from 0%! Same thing happened with Forza Horizon 3 which took three attempts to download. You cannot even verify downloads on the Store or even back them up (in case you need to install them again). Honestly, it's like something from the late 1990s rather than 2017. Urgh!

P.S. I wasn't going to download Forza 7 for my Xbox One but, guess what, I tried it last night and that has no problems downloading. In fact, it was 50% complete when I left for work this morning! Hmfph!
