    Suggest a simple photo viewer

Please suggest a simple photo viewer for the elderly.

Nothing complicated like XnView, just browsing photos, preferably by date.

The default Windows Photo viewer is great, but it circles for weeks and hardly loads anything new.

Irfanview is a very long established program.

I've been using irfanview for years because it is probably the easiest photo programs out there. If you couldn't open a picture with it, it's probably because you need to make it your default photo program. But before doing that, you can always try installing it, then "right-click" a photo and you'll see "open" or "open with". Choose irfanview (if it's not an option--which is should be--the box usually allows you to "choose a program" and you can choose it from there). When you choose it to open your photo you may see the option to make it your default program by clicking the box saying, "always use this program to open this type of file (or something similar).

I have tried so many different photo programs and most were just too complicated for me; and I really only need and want an easy-to-use viewer that also makes it easy to crop and resize photos. The free irfanview does all this. (For a free program it does a lot more, but I don't need or use the more complicated features it offers.) I'm thinking you may not have given it a fair chance. Sometimes we get intimidated by a program that looks a lot different than the one we previously used. I really think you should try it again because I think you'll quickly come to love it. And I also doubt you'll find an easier photo program out there. Believe me--I looked for a long time and tried so many different ones, but irfanview is definitely the easiest one to use. Good luck.

Might look in the Store for the Free Basic Photo Viewer, I like it better than 123 Photo Viewer as I can change the background from black to a choice of a number of colors available.

Thanks for suggestions, I will check out the store.

Zoner Photo Studio Free looks great, but thumbnails are too small.

I still use Photo Gallery from Windows Live Essentials 2012.

    It is the best.

Have you tried the Ctrl + the + or - key, or Ctrl and roll the mouse wheel, to see it the thumbnails will change size?
