Through AHCI, storage performance is improved with Native Command Queuing (NCQ). AHCI also delivers longer battery life with Link Power Management (LPM), which can reduce the power consumption of the chipset and Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive.
Sounds like this is something that would be more beneficial for laptops.

I told you my opinion - no Intel programs are beneficial. I have seen (but not experienced) RST causing boot problems.
The only valid response I could give would be to suggest to google it, test it and keep it if you want.
Personally I'd remove it and only install it if it was required for something.
I have been googling it a bit and some people says it helps with perfomance, so im probably going to have the program installed.

You need to find the 'best' not necessarily latest Intel RST software for your motherboard and install that. You can then uninstall the Intel RST software which doesn't do much which should then leave behind the 'best' Intel RST disk driver.

I did some more testing with and without intel rapid storage technology, and to be honest i didnt really see much of a difference, so im uninstalling the program.

If you uninstall IRST, it will probably leave installed an IDE ATA/ATAPI driver like iastora.sys in my case in which case your speed test is suspect. You need to revert to the Standard SATA AHCI Controller and compare the speed of that driver with the IRST driver (iastora.sys in my case).
Well i have been using my computer for several months without the intel drivers, and i dont see any difference in perfomance or anything else, so my conclusion is that they are pretty much useless.
