I just put myself in the hands of Microsoft and was at their mercy for while. I ran the install from the ISO file. It completed eventually and the laptop restarted. It is now too late in the day to know the effects. Tomorrow will be the big test when I see if I can download anything from the MS Store.

Time will tell and all will be revealed.

Yes. Please see tutorial. Read warnings, simple enough, using ISO is step 4 however you need to do steps 1-3.

Hello again, well I followed your suggestion and did the Repair install. Guess what, I still cannot download anything from the store or check for updates.

I also followed up by doing all the things I did in my first post in this thread, religiously following the applicable instructions in the Tenforums tutorials. Grrrrrr...this is getting to be a real bear.

Try this. Run "WF.bat" as admin. Additionally try Wise Care 365, it helped me to solve my WU problems.

Thanks for the post. What does WF.bat do? Right now my system won't let it run. Also I use Wise Care on my other machines, but it won't download on my Surface Book, I get an error message that the download has a virus in it? errr...

None, as far as I can tell, though it might burst in flames due to high CPU activity. :)

I can do this in my workshop near the sink with a fire extinguisher handy so I should be OK, eh?
