Can't install Groove or Photos apps due to error Code: 0x80070005.

Hi all. I'm having a problem installing Groove & Photos, apps download, go to restoring user data, continue to install right up to the end where they fail with the above error. I have reset both apps which have removed them from my laptop but I still cannot install them. I can run Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"} from Powshell w/ admin but this doesn't reinstall the apps & therefore Groove & photos remain unable to install.
Nothing has changed on the computer other than Windows updates.
I've run SF & DISM & all OK - no problem detected so I'm at a loss of what to do next, I've also run WSReset.exe & various troubleshooting like BITS (Ctrl panel>Troubleshooting) service & all OK there too - I also ran the Win Update troubleshooter even though I don't have problems updating windows & it did run a fix but the app problems remain.*
Is there any other thing I can try?
    Tia.

    Hi Tia.

Have you tried the in place repair / upgrade.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

This will install Creators Update as an FYI. Not sure if you are on 1703 oe not but wanted you to be aware

I always recommend you back up personal data off machine before such a procedure just because.

Not yet Caledon Ken, I was hoping it would be something easily fixed, if not I was going to do that or await the Fall/Autumn Creators update. However I'm going to do that to see if it fixes the problem.
I regularly run Macrium Reflect which has saved my sanity many times. :)

Hmmm.... could have sworn both Groove and Photos was part of the initial Windows 10 Pro install. In other words, default installs. With that, why would they thus need to be installed (again)?

    What am I missing?

They usually are installed with Windows 10 @sygnus21 but can be uninstalled via powershell then redownloaded from MS store, due to the error I mentioned I couldn't install the updates to these two apps so uninstalled them via powershell cmd then tried reinstalling but I received the same error.
Thankfully a repair install of Windows has allowed me to download these two apps. Hopefully there'll be no further problems with updating.

So am I, tbh I don't know why I left things so long - hoping it was a temporary glitch on MS part probably.
I'll see what happens with the next updates to Groove & Photos apps & hopefully there'll be no further problems. :)
    Thanks @Caledon Ken. :)

I'm back with the same problem, a new update to Photos app & it refuses to install with the same error. I suspect a problem at MS's end but is there anything else I can look at?

Interesting. I can see an update breaking something, shouldn't but we've all seen it, but interesting that it broke again on the same machine. Is Groove okay?

Do you have any other photo, movie or camera software installed that could be interacting with Photos? (Webcam add-ons)

When I look up 0x8007005 most hits come back to Access denied on files. Did you make any changes to permissions at any point that you can remember to any files for any reason?

Did you or do you run any kind of registry cleaner or uninstaller or anything else that is suppose to maintain the registry?

Did you ever have an issue where your id didn't work (start menu broken, task bar not showing) and you created a new id and moved files to it?

One likely but more painful way to permanently fix this would be a clean install. A nice fresh registry with a clean new file structure. Maybe the Fall release of Creator will address.

No update to Groove yet but would think that's also the same.
I have used Paint Shop pro for years & never had a problem using it, this is the only photo editing software I use.
I use CCleaner & JV 16 power tools.
I have no problems downloading other MS apps.
No user ID problems. I clean installed the Creators update upon release.
A clean install will be a last resort as I don't use Photos or Groove but like things working am am slightly annoyed when they don't.
