has anyone used Freezip on Windows 10?

Most (me included) seem to use 7-Zip http://www.7-zip.org/

I've had WinZip for years but also have 7-Zip on a couple of Notebooks. I see no issue with using FreeZip after reading this page:

According to that page it was released on 2008 however I downloaded the installer and it all dates from 1997. Not that that is necessarily a problem but I tried to install and it would not.

Assuming you can get it to install you also need extra patches if you want to deal with split zip files or encryption.

I think 7-zip would be a better (and easier) solution.

Apart, perhaps that Windows 10's File Explorer already has built-in support to open or create .zip files.

FreeZip integrates with Windows Explorer and uses file associations and context menus to zip or unzip files and subdirectories. If you know how to use Windows Explorer, then you do not have to learn anything new to use FreeZip.

Also, your link includes this important information:

NOTE: "FreeZip" (without exclamation point) has been available since 1997 and is different from the recently launched NewMedia/Braxio "FreeZip!" and in no way associated with the program. Unlike that product, FreeZip does not involve any of the "Spyware".

I think Freezip is more user friendly than the other programs cited and have used
it for several years; however, when I try it in W10 I get the following errors:

When I select List zip
" './unzip.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".

When I ask for an Unzip
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item".

I got similar errors trying to install (file/path missing).

The installer seems to be for Windows 9x or NT. What version of Windows were you running before Windows 10?

EDIT Managed to install it using XP compatibility settings. However it doesn't work. The INF file is installed in C:\Windows\INF\freezip.inf and the help file to C:\Windows\help\freezip.chm. According to the INF file there should be 2 programs zip.exe and unzip.exe installed as well but they are not.

Looking into the context menu entries added to the registry it also attempts to use cmd to run things from Windows directory without authority. This hasn't been possible since Vista.

For example for list zip you have this entry

C:\Windows\SysWow64\cmd.exe /k .\unzip.exe -lM "%1"

for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\freezip\Shell\ListZip\command

This fails both because unzip.exe doesn't exist and (even if it did) because it isn't valid.

I don't think it will work I'm afraid - it doesn't seem to be compatible with Windows 10.
