    I have powered down and back on 3-4 times today as I have been in and out and so far not reappeared... so it must be subscription related as my payment day is today and it has gone today... well for now anyway...

    I can't understand how this happens, no update was done to Office or Windows on or around that time, and it appeared at around 10am on the Sunday (2 weeks ago) so Office must connect each time you use it to check you subscription...

    It probably does, so it can tell if the subscription is good or lapsed.

    Bit annoying if that is supposed to be a change for the better

    Just powered up again for the first time today and the message is still missing... so it must be subscription related... Will see if it appears later in the month again...

    I checked my Office this morning and the highlighted message is gone!

    Yeah that annoying misleading message is gone from mine too. It dissappeared several days ago and hasn't reared it's head since. I don't think it was subscription related because mine is due in December. Bit of a farcical show by MS!
