Find Album Information in Windows Media Player Does Not Work

It was working before. Sometime after I got the Creators' Update it just stopped working.

Is there any way to fix it?

I have tried enabling and disabling Windows Media Player under "Turn Windows features on or off" and that did not work.

I know Groove Music does a good job with finding media information, but I do not want to use it yet since it does not have DLNA media server support for home networks.

I have the Creators Update. I don't use the media player much, but I've just tested it and successfully found album information. Interestingly, the address it shows is not the one shown in your screenshot.

I have found a number of relevant threads showing this problem which may be of help, some dating back to 2010 like this one...

or this more recent Win7 one from 2016. The solution in this case was that the redir.metaservices... address was blocked by the HOST table. Nine people said this solved their problem.

Might check your hosts file in the windows\system32\devices\etc and make sure that the redir.metaservices.microsoft.com host name hasn't been included with 0.0.0.0, this happened on my system after I used an application to turn off the Microsoft tracking in Windows 10, simply commenting out this line allowed WMP to then find album info quite happily

Just checked my hosts file and it was there. That exact same thing happened to me actually.
    Thank you, I fixed it!
