Hi lady89nen. Welcome to the TenForums @lady89nen

Desktop Gadgets are not supported in Windows 10 as part of the basic OS. They were dropped with Windows 8.

Are / were you running a program to provide this functionality? If so I would re-install.

Can you be a bit more specific? Did you upgrade from Windows 7? If so Caledon Ken is correct, and you would need to download a third party version of Gadgets. If you had them on an earlier version of Windows 10, and upgraded to the CU, then Microsoft uninstalled the basic package as it's not an officially supported program, and if you try to re-install you will get an error. If you search for Gadgets in a fresh copy of Windows 10 you will find a lot of files as Microsoft still has them in the code, but they are not installed to be used, so what you need to do is look at the installed/modified date of when you installed them, and delete them, and then you can re-install the third party package. This is what happened to me, and that's how I fixed it.

    Unwanted indelible gadget

I like the Shutdown/Restart gadget that 8Gadgets (from Sidebar) provides - I would happily dispose of all the others. Since I have installed the latest version (v27 with 4 instead of 3 pages), an item has appeared that I have been unable to get rid of. It is LIKE the Chameleon Weather gadget. I gave feedback about it to the developers but have not had a response. Any idea how I can get rid of it ?

Uninstalling 8GadgetPack and re-installing it, made the unwanted gadget appear with its deletion tool, so I could get rid of it.

If you download a current version of 8GadgetPack from Helmut Buhler (v28.0), it "notices" when an upgrade occurs and drops a reinstall shortcut on your desktop so you can restore gadgets after each feature upgrade. Just saw a thread on this from @f14tomcat earlier today, and just upgraded from version 18.0 to 28.0 myself. Great tool. 8GadgetPack - Gadgets for Windows 10 / 8.1 / 7

That re-install shortcut sounds like a great idea. The Chameleon Weather type of item may well have been that, but it would not respond to anything. As noted above, a re-install of 8Gadget brought that Chameleon back, but with a 'close' option this time, so I used that and am now happy with just the one gadget that I value.
