I did the registry hack and MS Money worked fine until I downloaded information from my bank, then it stopped working fine. Replacing the MNYOB99.DLL with the patched DLL file fixed the import problem and it is working fine again. Raymond Chen did a good job, MS should hire him.

I feel like I am driving an old Model-T waiting the next thing to give out.
That's great that it is working fine (at least for now) with the DLL file patch. If you could please post back over the next couple of weeks, that would be great. I have read all about the registry hack and DLL patch, but I've been hesitant to try it. And I want to see how Windows Updates (at least in the short term) affect all of this in Win10. If it continues to work, I may try the registry hack and DLL patch myself in the next few weeks. Thanks.

I registered just to thank you guys for this fix! Just updated to 10 from 8.1 and was about to revert when Money Sunset version crashed whenever I tried to create a new payee.
First I applied the registry hack for the Version key, rebooted and Money still crashed.
Then I read through the whole thread and also changed the value for the W2kVersion key and applied the patched dll.
Rebooted and all is well now.
I have not tried to import any files 'cause it's nothing I do in normal operation. Although I have not gone through every function of the program at least the checkbook part works again.
    Love these forums!!

    Update the mnyob99.dll file

Using 2007 Home & Business Sunset. I have spent over 10 hrs. trying to find the correct fix, including purchasing Quicken and importing 15 years of data into that monster. What a nightmare, but the learning curve to use Quicken vs. continuing to find a Money fix brought me back to my efforts to repair Money. Ultimately, replacing the .dll resolved the issue of crashing. The crash always would occur once the program was fully loaded. Many thanks to Raymond Chen and Ameridan for providing links to the rewritten .dll and step by step instructions.

Damn- i had no trouble importing about 15 years worth of data into quicken, you have to start the import from a day you knew the exact balance. You can use a bank sratement for that.. After i reconciled the account i made an immediate backup. Thats the trick with quicken.. Back it up daily, before you do anything else.. They also kind of force updates on you, i ran quicken 2010 for over 2 years until it stopped getting updates from my bank. I'd use money, but my bank stopped supporting it.. The only problem with quicken i ever had though was with quicken 2015, an update added a password i never had.. Thats what the backups are for, i do them daily now. You restore the backup and then sync your account, then back it up again. That way if an update unexpectedly adds or changes you password you can restore and move on.. The one thing i like is that i can sync to my ipad, two iphones, and a droid tablet all at once.
