No, they can't do such a thing, the access is limited only for the server, and the premissions they give to participate. You can share your files via uploading (Which is limited to 8 MB max), but they can NEVER see your files, let alone acess your PC or files. The protocol is secure, so they isolate PC filesystems from Discord servers.

FerchogtX, your reply is much appreciated!

I'm trying to find some information about the privacy and security measures that Discord has built in so I can trust it.

I've got so much respect for the community of tenforums.com that I'd love to hear the opinions of the other users on here before I install it.

It uses certificate issued by DigiCert, not unlike Comodo, which anyone can buy/bribe.
DigiCert is trusted by a veritable "who's who" in the online world. It is being used by multinational companies such as Microsoft, Yahoo, AT&T, Facebook, Amazon.com, Wikipedia, NASA and Core Logic, among others.

You do not need to install app to use Discord, it is just more convenient to some.

This is the first time I've ever heard of "DigiCert" so I'm researching it now.

Does DigiCert offer a kind of guarantee that the app is 100% safe?

I know it's possible to join a Discord group by using a URL and do voice chat this way, but this bring more security risks at all compared to installing the Discord app for Windows 10?

Both work entirely the same, in fact, I could say that, depending your browser, Is safer or equal, because Discord seems to use the Chromium engine to work...

Your continued support is much appreciated!

I've decided to install Discord on my Windows 10 Pro PC.

Are there any precautions I can take when I install it to maintain my privacy?
