Paint Shop Pro 7.04 - Does it work in Windows 10?

If you are installing on a new computer, then you can run the trial version of Corel PaintShop Pro 7.04, but if you are considering of buying you might as well download the trial version of PaintShop Pro X9. PaintShop Pro: Photo Editing Software by Corel It has all the same features and some improvements.

Yes, this is a very old thread. But when reading the above comment, I had to react.
IMHO, PSP7 is way better if you use it the way I do: also use it as image viewer. Because, once loaded in memory: on a modern PC PSP7 will load very fast the next time; and then you have very fast many tools available to edit/view the image the way you want (try to find the most used key shortcuts). And there are of course basic 'viewer' options like zoom-in and zoom-out. PSP9 And every version after PSP7 can't be started so fast: it always takes more time to load it (relatively seen: much more time); it needs to load plug-ins and such. For some reason, those additional things can't stay in memory (well... maybe if you use some kind of RAM-disk - not sure). For me, biggest disavantage is that it can't load images with filenames containing 'non-standard' characters (like chinese or russian characters). Other than that, I prefer it over newer (slower to start) versions; even with the quirks (and things missing) it does have, for software which is 20 years old.
Yes, PSP9 or PSP2021 will have (much) more options. But for me, comparing PSP7 to PSP2021 is (to some degree) like comparing Office 2003 with Office 365. There are very little options in Office 365 I would want which aren't in Office 2003; Office 2003 will do the trick for me (if Calc of LibreOffice wasn't to utterly slow (for example: when selecting and editing a whole column), I would prefer Calc over Excel).
I think unless you want to be a professional photo editor, PSP7 will do for 99.9% of people.
Unless there will be a newer PSP version which is dirt cheap and will load the program and the image within 1 second when a picture is double clicked in file explorer (when PSP is selected as default image viewer), I will stick with the antique PSP7.
I never liked any default Microsoft image viewer program; they have way to few options. For me, even the most basic viewer options are missing in default image viewer programs.
Can't find a reliable webshop to buy PSP7 (retail version, sealed and original), though... Go try to find the 'retail' version, if I have convinced anyone to try PSP7. Disable the options you don't need when installing; it might make the software faster (not really tested, though); but I DO use the 'PSP Browser' addition and let it create jbf files.
