It says 'solved' but is "format c:" really a solution or rather a bandaid? Just like realpinkman I'd prefer not having to reinstall windows.
And like realpinkman I don't have a winstore on my c drive which results in the:

    .. error message from powershell.

    SFC /SCANNOW does absolutely nothing.

I'm suspecting that doing an upgrade from Windows 7 (perhaps 8 as well but it had apps, right?) results in not having the winstore folder making it hard to reinstall the windows store.

It's frustrating because all I really want is to play freaking Solitaire which is now an app!

EDIT: Been looking around the web regarding windows store problems for windows 8 and lo and behold, they had the same problem upgrading from win7 to win8. Avira is also mentioned in one post and I do have Avira installed as I upgraded from Win7 to win8. Anyone else that has Avira antivirus? Just trying to narrow it down.

I do not have antyvirus. I;ve upgraded from win8.1 and in first build i got windows store, and all aps were working. They broke after some update. Iv copied windows store folder from my notebook but it not helped me

    Thank you so much, Kari!!
@Arch @Kari @Brink I was having problems today with the Store(after a clean install) and tried everything to fix it, including uninstalling(planned to reinstall). Ha Ha on me!" How to fix the store is unimportant, what is, is how I finally got it back after trying different things & commands, all of which didn't work. Instead of going the extreme like Arc., I popped in my ISO USB and did an In-Place Upgrade and got it back(plus all the unwanted apps too). I was able to keep everything and just had to turn location back on and run Windows Update:).

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

I hope this information helps if it happens again or anyone else that searches the forums.

Incidentally I just found the problem with store: After the clean install(and In-Place Upgrade being all settings were saved) my clock was set to the wrong time zone

I think when you get a major problem like this its best to do a clean install. I had issues with apps with the upgrade which was fixed with a clean install.

If you read my post, in my case it was a clean install.... It had to do with time zone which can get changed if one scrolls the mouse up or down after setting.

Acr; After you reset your computer, did you get the directory, C:\WINDOWS\WinStore, back on your computer?

I just did the Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3118754) this morning and now my Store app was inoperable...just a darkened icon on my Start Menu.

I tried the reinstall trick using Powershell and now I have the phoney blue @Microsoft.blah.blah icon which immediately flashes and then closes.

Any hints on how to get a clean install of the Store App?

    Thanks

I'm having the same problem. Among others. While logged into the built-in Administrator, I tried the commands the PowerShell. I got an error saying:
"Cannot find path 'C:\Windows\WinStore\AppxManifest.XML' because it does not exist."

But I can do a search in the Cortana search, and the store comes up. It just doesn't work when I try to use it.

Checking for updates doesn't work either. I tried checking it in Administrator:
"We couldn't get online to download your updates. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're connected to the Internet."

This is with my firewall and antivirus off. I also tried checking for updates while logged into my MSA user.

I couldn't even get Skype working properly or my firewall while logged into my MSA user. Not sure what I can do at this point. Is there a way to fix the OS without deleting installed applications?
