    Error 0x80070003 in Windows Store

Hi everyone, hope this is an appropriate place to post this for help. So I have a Lenovo laptop. I get this error when Windows Store tries to update the Lenovo Settings app (and a few other apps, but not all my apps). This is really annoying as I set a battery charge threshold using the app and I can't change it without accessing the app, and when I click on it, it just flickers and doesn't open. I went through the steps in this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...-update-errors (which I found via this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...-or-0x80070003), but it didn't solve the problem (please note that I couldn't do step 2 as in the past I've rolled back to a previous version of Windows 10). The last step is to reinstall Windows. Obviously I'm very reluctant to do this as it means I have to copy all of my files and reinstall all my apps, so I was thinking that first, if possible, I should try installing the Anniversary Update. Since I've rolled back from it in the past, can I re-update to it without reinstalling the whole OS (which is what I'm told to do anyway)? If not, I've heard there's a new version of Windows 10 coming in April, so I might just wait for that and see if that fixes it.

    Hi there and welcome.

I think for the sake of added assurance, you should ensure the laptop is plugged in when your installing programs and definitely when there's Windows Updates involved. A simple power hiccup while updates are installing could cause problems.

I wonder if the issue you're having is because the app says for Windows 8 and higher. Perhaps it hasn't been updated fully for Windows 10.

In the mean time you should try temporarily disabling your antivirus then try install it again.

No, this laptop came with Windows 10 and the app used to work fine. And I've always attempted this with the laptop plugged in (bar maybe once). I just tried doing it with my antivirus disabled and that didn't make a difference. But thanks for your reply, I guess.

Yes, but if updates are failing, so might the upgrade. Download WF.bat and run it as admin.

But all updates are not failing. Only certain apps on the Windows Store - Lenovo Settings, OneNote, MSN News, App connector and MSN Sport. Other app updates are going through fine and I am still getting system updates. Could you please explain what WF.bat is for and what it does?

It resets all Windows Update policies, cleans download cache, resets component store and runs disk cleanup.

I'm running it; a disk cleanup dialog came up and I don't know what I need to select from the checklist. It currently has "Downloaded Program Files" and "Temporary Internet Files" ticked.

Do I even need to do disk cleanup?

Not really, I just select everything.

OK. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to have helped though, I still get an error in the Windows Store when trying to update the app.
