Java Platform SE binary is not responding

Hi everyone,
please be gentle with me as this is my first post and I presently know next to nothing about Java or Win10! I am trying to get my son's gaming console, which I just bought him used, to play Minecraft. Here are the facts:
• Win10 system
• I have updated Win10 to latest version
• Installed latest Java plugin (as requested by the software)
• A similar game called 'Roblox' works fine on the same machine
• I get the 'Mojang' corporate label window hanging, then when I click it I get the same message each time which is this:
"Java (tm) Platform SE binary is not responding"

Now, I know this is just my kid's game but boy would he be happy to get playing it! He seemed to have it working when I first fired up this computer & downloaded it but since an update to Win10 this is happening so I guess it may be a Win10/Java thing?

Anyone who could help with this will get a big virtual kiss/hug/handshake from me as I am completely stuck!

Three things I saw on Web.

Update video drivers. How this is connected I did not research. Of course with all driver update it is good to have restore point and a copy of existing driver. Your card isn't being supported going forward by AMD has released some drivers.

Next was to clear Java cache. Control Panel, Programs, click on Java. On general tab there is a "Settings" button, click, then click Delete Files.

Last this was to run in Compatibility mode. Right click exe, Properties, Compatibility Tab, set to Windows 8. At bottom of page there is an option "Change for all Users", set there as well.

Additionally there is this Minecraft forum and it is full of this error.

Try downloading the newest available version of the JDK (Java Development Kit, as opposed to the JRE).

Sometimes the JDK will fill in for the JRE's missing libraries.

Ok - slow update to this thread I know but....
I've tried everything so far from the above & reinstalled java, Minecraft & drivers for the graphics card.... still no joy!
Now: I happened to have purchased another older pc for my daughter to play on and that came with windows 7 and inbuilt Nvidia 7700 graphics card and is an intel quad core mother board: it plays Minecraft Java version ok! (albeit a bit laggy/lower res due to the card I think).
So, presumably this is indeed a Java/Win10 thing going on here and I need to install Win 7 on my son's pc?
Strange world we live in!

You could also try either an in place upgrade (to Creators Update) or a clean install. If Minecraft didn't work on W10 I'm sure there would be a revolt. Creators Update comes with some risk on older machines. MS is staging the rollout so getting out ahead of them might have you experiencing some issues.

Final update: I bought a new pc for my son anyway (a smaller & quieter one) which shipped with Win 10 and it works fine. So, to help others: it may be either:
1) you need to re-install your copy of Win 10
or
2) your particular version of Win 10 does not 'play nice' with the Java interface.

The new version is Win 10 Home Premium.

There is also another reason, which i have fixed yesterday. During playing fortnite I got a "Battle Eye Launcher" message that it blocked 2 things. Plms.dll and Plms64.dll. I looked up what it is, and it is due to Premier Option.
I would highly recommend using Ccleaner to uninstall this as it is apparently a virus, and after I did, Fortnite worked with no problem and minecraft would work again.

^^^ Uninstalling this is what finally made it work for me! It was labeled as "Premier Opinion" instead of "Premier Option" for me, but deleting it did the trick.
