    Office 2013 on windows 10

Planning to get a surface 3 with win 8.1 on it. We will be upgrading it to 10 at some point. As we are not really keen on subscription based office 365 (and reliance on the cloud in general) we have been given the option of a pre install of office 2013. But I need to confirm office 2013 will work / run under windows 10. I have google searched but cannot find a clear answer. Can anyone help?

    Cheers, Wayne

I have used it on earlier builds and no problems, other people also have earlier versions of office installed, so cant really see an issue

you might want to check out Office 2016 (currently beta), that could be out soon (ish)

Thank you so much. I will ponder on 2016 but it's comforting to know 2013 has worked ok on earlier builds

Other thing you might want to check out

A lot of the tablets come with Office 365 for a year (should include surface in that), you could then get Office free for a year so you can think about 2016, saves buying full office outright, just cancel auto renew, then after 12 months buy office

I have Office 365 and you don't need to use the cloud with it, works exactly the same with local files (as far as I know its just a subscription version of Office 2013)

Welcome to the forums also, hows the weather in Essex, nice sunny day in the North East :)

Thank you. Yes, the offer did give 365 free for a year option so as you suggest it could be good to evaluate. I didn't realise 365 would work like the familiar office on our local machine and network drives our family is comfortable with so that's good. It's pretty good in essex this afternoon, absolutely lashed down this morning though! Still, nothing as bad as the thunderstorms the other night. Sounded like a war going on! hope the North East escaped all that?!

bad thunderstorms and hail stones on Wednesday, bit of damage but not much, now looks like back to the summer weather

if you go for trying the office 365, give a shout if you need any help, its an offer that's hard to refuse getting it free for 12 months

Yep, I've had 2013 installed in every build so far with no problems.

Don't know about Office 2013, but Office 2007 works fine on Windows 10
