There's other methods but if I need files protected I move them into the Compressed Folder and password that. Right-click, Send To, Compressed (zipped) Folder.

    Compressed.

Do you have a detailed instructions on how to password protect it.

I have 7-zip installed but still could not figure it out.

    Maybe a better tool.......?

    Thanks,

If you have the Pro edition, you can create a partition to store your sensitive data and then use Bitlocker to protect that partition.

Even kids know, how to bypass password/folder protection, so unless are serious about it, the encryption is the way to go, but make sure to backup your key, otherwise even you might not be able to access it.

    Thank you for your advice.

I installed SecretFolder before reading your post and it seems working OK.

    Download SecretFolder - MajorGeeks

But if you see some issues with it that I might have missed - please let me know.

No, that was not a good solution, after folder is hidden its content is searchable and can be accessed.

SecretFolder also hides folder, and its content is also searchable, but not accessible,
