Can't Get Rid of Microsoft Works Calendar Reminder

I'm running Windows 10 on my new HP laptop and I can't get rid of the Microsoft Works Calendar Reminder. The laptop will suddenly slow down to a crawl, and when I go to Task Manager and look to see what's going on, I discover that the Microsoft Works Calendar Reminder is eating up half of my cpu, making the computer slow to a crawl. I can right-click it, then delete it, but it will just come back again, the next time I boot up the laptop.

I went to the uninstall settings and thought that I had uninstalled it, but it is obviously still lurking somewhere in the computer, even though it doesn't show, now, in the list of programs available to be uninstalled.

Is this some kind of worm/virus or just a really annoying, persistent Microsoft app?

Any ideas as to how I might get rid of it for good would be very much appreciated.

Microsoft dropped Works and Works Suite a few years ago, or more. Since you say it's a new computer with Win10 how did you install Works? Works 9 [the last] is okay on Win10, at least on mine, but I installed Works after I got the computer. The previous computer that I relegated to a spare was upgraded to Win10 from Win7 which already had Works 9 on it. I haven't tried Works 8.5 or earlier on Win10, yet.

I must've installed it when I was setting up the new laptop. At least I can't imagine how else it could've gotten on board; however, I don't actually remember, now, as I installed a whole bunch of programs that I wanted on the new laptop. But that's a moot point, because, like I said, I uninstalled Microsoft Works and it no longer shows on the list of programs available for uninstallation.

When researching the problem on the net, I found several other posts complaining of the same problem, with a couple of them saying that they had never installed Microsoft Works Calendar Reminder.

One post claimed it was 'badware," whatever that term is supposed to mean. Upon reading further, I quickly learned that this particular post was only a 'come-on' for buying a supposed removal software package (SpyHunter). I downloaded it, only to find that it was, itself, potentially 'badware,' and was extremely hard to uninstall.

Any ideas as to how to get rid of it?
