    Hey guys. Thanks so much for your efforts!

    But I already tried everything you proposed.

    Please watch this video of what I am doing and observe how the registry entries change but the menu simply does not:

    @Linus
    Did you try what I suggested?

    @Edwin
    Yes, if I select the exe file (again) manually, it hat the same effect as when I select evince.exe at 0:18 in my video.

    Not being able to add evince to the list is just half of my problem.
    But it's just as weird as not being able to remove e.g. Microsoft Edge from the list.

    Try setting the .pdf file association back to its default settings and then retry your method.

    Go to option 2 in this tutorial and select the .pdf download from the table below the instructions.

    @philc43

    Thanks! At least, this removes Firefox and Microsoft Word from the list.

    But still, Evince does not show up on the list even after openning a pdf several times with it...

    Okay, it's a GNOME Project application! Portable, sort of!
    If you'll bear with me, I'll show you how to make a custom context menu entry.

    That would be fair enough. As long as I am not getting this "open with Evince" entry for all files, but just for *.PDFs (and maybe *.PS).

    Thanks in advance!

    @Edwin: No worries, thanks anyway! I found a substitute for evince in sumatra pdf.
    However, one last question if I may:

    Is that the reason why Windows 10 doesn't want to list it in the "Open with" menu? What would the Evince developers have to change?

    Thanks again!

    It would probably have to be modified as an MSI or Windows installer package with all the proper attributes.
