Aomei Backupper Pro free

Thanks SWI2 for your post - appreciate getting this installed. I have Macrium Reflect, but like cerebus posted, I intend to use this as a plan for a 2nd backup source. Glad to get it.

There are a lot of reports of those problems with Acronis.

None for Aomei as far as I know.

If you want to know the features, you can find them on Aomei website. E.G. Aomei Pro incldes Universal restore - which you don't get with macrium free.

I've found macrium to be 100% reliable

I also copy files from my NAS servers to external HDD's using GRSYNC (GUI for RSYNC) (Linux) which works as 2nd backup option. The GRSYNC is brilliant as it can copy files on directory A NOT on Directory B / copy newer files etc etc -- really good FREE product.

As this is a Windows Forum you'll have to google it if you want more info but I've found this brilliant for keeping Files in SYNC across various devices / systems.

For System Backup of course you can't beat things like Macrium - but ANYTHING is better than nothing - even if it's only Windows explorer !!!!!.

Whatever systems you use check that the RESTORES work -- you don't want to get I/O or other error on a restore when the backup appeared to be successful.

I gave up on Acronis a long time ago.

I think Free Macrium can do incrementals / differentials -- however I use it to image my system drives. I backup / archive DATA using Linux though.

With an SSD a system image backup takes me around 10 mins - so I do this nightly and keep 5 versions on external media - I alternate the external media --don't have all backups on a single device - Hardware can and does get broken !!! fortunately not too often though --but it DOES happen.

I also do duplicate backups. My primary backup system is Macrium Reflect. My secondary system is AOMEI Backupper. Both work quite effectively. The only down side I see with AOMEI is that it is much slower moving the same amount of data. If MR takes 25min to perform a backup, AOMEI will take close to 1 hour.

It isn't slow for me. Maybe something to do with your system, or the settings.

I find Aomei is slightly faster than macrium, though the compression is a little less ( on "normal" setting).

I don't know, but MR is scary fast. This was last weeks incremental. AOMEI took 25min. The C: drive has about 50gb total data and the D: drive has 120gb total data. Maybe there is a difference between the PAID MR vs the FREE MR ?

Oh - I forgot to mention that the incremental file size was right around 2.3gb for both systems.
