Windows 10: How to play Blu-Rays
How to play Blu-Rays
I have 2 blu-ray burner drives on my system, one from Pioneer and one from LG. I have no problem with either of them for data disks or DVDs, but Blu-Rays have been a headache.
I got CyberLink PowerDVD 10 with one of the drives, and that version is apparently incompatible with Windows. It gives me an error that I need to upgrade the software to play the Blu-Ray, even if I run in compatibility mode. I don't feel like shelling out $70 or so to upgrade the software. DVDs run fine in this software.
I tried AunPlayer, and it doesn't give me an error, it just doesn't work. I managed to load about 2 frames of one movie. I haven't even tried a Blu-Ray here.
I tried VLC Media Player, and it says This Blu-ray Disc needs a library for AACS decoding, and your system does not have it. I have followed the instructions online to download a .cfg file to my appdata and then the .dll file to the application folder, but I still get the same error message. I have no problem running DVDs in VLC.
In Windows Media Player, I get "The disc is empty" for both DVDs and Blu-Rays.
Does anyone have an idea for how I can watch a Blu-Ray on my computer?
You could try this: DAPlayer - Free HD Bluray Video Multimedia Player Software
Free Blu-ray Player - Play Bluray Disc on Windows PC with Best Free Blu-ray Player Software
Free Bluray Player
Support commercial and homemade Bluray. The only free Bluray decrypt and backup solution in market. Compatible with BD+ and AACS protected Bluray. Play Bluray from hard disk backup files and virtual driver. >>
Thanks for the suggestion. Seems to be a good program.
I've been using it on my desktop for quite awhile now and find it to be a very good Blu-ray player.
yes, leawo blu-ray player is very recommendable.
I watched Star Trek Beyond on it last night.
After watching Man Utd (in 4K via SKY) I wanted something a bit more "surreal" so I popped in Star trek Beyond as well !!!!
4K worked perfectly.
Beware of Home videos if taken in 4K -- every tiny blemish comes out really clearly on 4K - poor old Rooney's hair -- he spent a fortune on covering up a bald patch - 4K renders all the cosmetic stuff futile unless you've got the equivalent of a Hollywood dressing studio to use before taking the video !!!!.
One of the very few things that can make one prefer SD over HD.
Title says it all, I bought WinDVD 12 pro for full compatibility with Win 10, I previously had installed WinDVD 11 pro fully patched & up to date so did work but I hadn't checked it in a while - a few months. WinDVD 12 will play DVDs fine but blu...

So I've had Windows 10 on my main desktop for a couple of weeks now.
I like what I've seen so far and feel Microsoft are going in the right direction. However because this isn't even a consumer preview yet and I can't use programs like Windows...
