Hi there
One thing that HASN'T^ yet been foxed is the sensitivityof a Dogs nose -- so perhaps some type of Odour detector might work -- Dogs can even recognize by smell a Human even when that Human has been plastered with cheap scent / de-odourants. Some Police dogs can even still detect an individual after the poor dog has been "pepper sprayed".
I'm sure there must be some unique individual characterisation(s) which would be almost impossible to replicate. If we can send a "Washing Machine" size object accurately to the outer reaches of the Solar System I'm sure designing some hardware to match / acquire a unique trait about an individual can't be THAT difficult. !!!
Cheers
