VLC on Amazon Fire TV box or stick Subtitles stored where ?

    Hi there

I like the VLC app on the Amazon Fire TV box or stick --

When playing from your LAN (NAS etc accessed via Browse) there's a facility to Download subtitles - for quite a few ripped movies / TV series it manages to find the subtitles but I haven't a clue where it stores these - as when I play on another smart TV with PLEX it can't find the subtitles. Same If I use the PLEX app on the Firestick TV box so where does it store the subtitles. Any idea anybody.

Incidentally using the VLC app on the fire TV is better in cases than using PLEX as even if transcoding required the CPU on the fire TV box stick is more than powerful enough for it to do the transcoding. If PLEX does the transcoding you might see message "Server not powerful enough to transcode for smooth playback" although sometimes playback is fine --depends on the CPU in your NAS .

    Cheers

Normally the subtitles are stored in the same directory as the video file. They have the same name with .srt extension instead of .mkv or whatever.

That is where most players (VLC, Movies and TV app - even my cable box and TV) look for them.
