The reason I use re-writable discs because, well...I've screwed up what I was burning. I have found out something else about this burning issue. We use a PlayStation 3 for playback. I know they can be a bit finicky when it comes to what will play or not. One comment I read as about how software converts DTS to AC3. Not sure which one would be selected as some of the video was done with my Fuji camera. Others were with my wife's Sony digital video camera. So just for yucks I tried to play what I burned on my laptop. It only played for a minute or two before it threw a "TDEV025" error. I tried looking that up then. Seen other errors mentioned but not that one specifically. I did run across several people having issues with thier Toshiba computers and the dvd burning or even working after upgrading Windows to version 10.

The properties for the drive comes up as both a Matshita DVD-Ram UJ8E2 and a Toshiba MQ01ABF050. The driver version and date are the same for both, as 10.0.14393.0 released on 6/21/2006 from Microsoft. Should I delete and attempt a re-install the driver? I really wish I could find more information on the error I received when I tried playing on my laptop.
Try checking the Windows event logs for the time during which you got this hardware error. Very likely it's a "sector not found" or similar, indicating that the drive is having trouble reading the media.

I very much doubt that re-installing the built-in mass storage drivers will change anything.

Before I change anything else, I'd like to figure out what this "TDEV025" error means. Someone mentioned a log file I can check? Where would that be? Would it give a better explanation then just throwing out an error? FYI, I need to make sure my dvd burner is working properly, I still have to burn off the Windows 10 upgrade I've got cluttering up my hard drive. Suggestions?

A Google search for "TDEV025" error finds just three results, all of which are from your activity on this forum. What software are you using to play the DVD on your laptop? Please post a screenshot of the error being displayed.

Getting ready to go out shopping. I wrote that error down when I placed DVD in my laptop. Used Toshiba's own dvd player to view. (I'm having issues with VLC, but that's another issue I don't wish discuss right now.) When I attempted to play the burnt DVD in my PS3, it worked but the audio stuttered. In the laptop it stuttered for a few minutes before stopping and showing that error message.

When get back, I'll attempt to play it again and take a screen shot as requested. I'm also going to see if I can get it to run in Media Player.

I searched Google for your error code. I get results for Toshiba's DVD player errors but nothing for that code. Check the code again to make sure that's the correct error code.

Okay, back again. Tried it again, Toshiba player played the video for about a minute or so after checking menu 1) Daughter at Zoo 2004. Then it shut down and this appeared.

I'd also like to add. I hadn't selected VLC, as I just down loaded it a few weeks ago, and it wouldn't even play movies I bought, let alone something I created myself. In my original post I also mentioned Media Player not realizing that Microsoft ended support for that in Windows 10.

Just for the heck of it, I tried playing my video in VLC, the video worked but instead of stuttering, there just wasn't any audio at all. In searching for this error, I've tried both the letter O and 0, just to be safe since the error doesn't show a / through the 0.

I think your problem may be in the audio being corrupted and that's why your getting errors when trying to play the converted files. Do the original files play ok? Check out videohelp.com. There are a lot of knowledgeable users there that may be able to help.
