It's not seamless with Excel, but the converter will open an xlsx file from File Explorer as an xls file in Excel 97. To convert to xlsx, I use Excel online from OneDrive.
Word document conversion is more comprehensive with the ability to save in 2007 format docx from the file save menu in Winword 97.
In all my systems running Excel 2013, the default is 8.43.
My MacBook Pro runs Microsoft Office 2011 and the default width in Excel is 10.0 (0.90 inches).
You see, Mariam, this is what happens when the elephant leaves the room, the people left behind just talk amongst themselves for a while, and then wander off too.
Sigh.
I'm sorry, I've had a rough couple of days. Anyway, yes, I've installed the "fix" and what it did was it left the width at 8.43; in addition to that, I've also gone to Settings --> Update and Security --> Advanced Settings and I've ticked off "Update Microsoft products while downloading Windows 10 updates". So everything should be fine from now on (*knock on wood, fingers crossed*).
Well done Mariam!
Mark the thread solved please.
Hope the rough patch is truly past.:)
