Can you manually move win app folders from another location to user/appdata? ie
I have a very large app 40gb that always has issues downloading. I managed to install it awhile ago and copied it to a backup drive. After windows reinstallation I would like to move that app folder back into user/appdata
can I do this? how to I get the tile back onto the start menu to run it?
Hi, could you clarify just to be sure- do you mean a universal app from Store, or a traditional desktop program?

You will probably be optimistic if you hope to move a universal app around from where you saved it.

Copying an app isn't enough. It needs to be registered and that isn't trivial.
A better solution would be to install it and then while Windows is working OK make a system image using Macrium or similar. Then when Windows messes up you can just restore that. If you do that weekly you'll never lose too much and not have to download it all again. It takes me about 7 minutes to backup and 3 to restore Windows onto an old USB 2 external drive but then I've not got much installed. Macrium does differential backups (i.e. only what has changed) so you wouldn't be backing up the 40GB every time.
