How are you starting the bat file at boot, are you placing it in the Startup Folder if not place it here.
    Code:
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp
NO improvement - the window still closes after use, even with that bat in StartUp. But it's good to know that some or other still-to-be-discovered setting, makes my ideal possible.
Could it be that your version of Win10 pro is earlier (or later ) than my 1511 ?

Apart from the fact that I need to discover why YOUR snippingtool stay open and mine does not; there is also the fact that the command-line window stays open, when I know it need not. So I need more code to close the command window, once snippingtool has been launched.

I just created a bat file
    Code:
    echo off
    snippingtool.exe
And it does not close after creating and saving a snip it stays open

Snipping Tool can't be configured to "immediate".
Use a 3rd party tool; I use Greenshot:

Print Screen key and it's ready, automatic save locations and naming as well:

IF you have to go the 3rd party route Screenpresso free should do what you want - Screenpresso: The Ultimate Screen Capture Tool for Windows

I looked at greenshot amongst about 5 others - while I do not remember in detail why I rejected IT (is it for Mac only ?), I did come to the conclusion that they do NOT make my task easier than clicking twice for Win10's snippingtool. I want to improve on THAT, rather than go for something different.

I hope I do NOT have to go to a 3rd party - I did inspect screenpresso, and it is good to have as an addition, but not instead of a one-click snippingtool

I have no issues with snipping tool. I just pinned it to the taskbar and it opens readily and fast like other programs with no issues. What else would someone want. Or prior to the pinned snipping tool. I just type snipping tool into the search box and it pops up like any other quick search. I haven't used Win 7 in a while but I do at work. How do you bring it up fast inside win 7? We use intranet so sometimes things aren't as easy on a company computer

'I just pinned it to the taskbar and it opens readily and fast' - that takes ONE click, and then you have to click on NEW - the second click, then you have to select the are to be snipped. In Win7, once you click on snippingtool the first time, you can immediately select the area to be snipped, without clicking on NEW.

The annoyance with Snipping Tool is, you have to open it, click New, take your snip then fill out a 'Save As' dialog.........
    others snip and save automatically.
