SKY GO users - W10 Anniversary counts as a NEW device !!!!

    Hi there

For once not a W10 upgrade problem with Windows per se !!!!!.

A warning to any who use the SKY GO app on their computers -- (For those who don't know it's the SKY TV live streaming app where SKY TV customers can view a load of SKY TV programs including Live Sports such as Premier League Football etc) on Computers, tablets and phones.

Upgrading to W10 anniversary will count as a NEW device and unless you have Sky Go extra you'll probably get a message "You've already registered maximum devices this month" So you won't be able to use the application again until 1 Sep.

Calling SKY is of ZERO use - they don't have a clue about "Upgrading Windows" even though it's on the same D--N COMPUTER !!!!!!!.

Is it just me or is Customer service for ANYTHING a totally lost art these days !!!!.

I've backed up this system and restored the old one 1511 again as I want to watch English Premier league on a laptop. !! Restore is fine - SKY Go working as it thinks that's the original computer !!!

I'll try again with the upgrade if I can get wretched SKY to fix the problem or reset my account - surely they must of heard about Windows upgrade !!!. Meanwhile I can't do without the "Footy" especially I've got a bit of travelling to do until end of November.

Note also there is a temporary error even in 1511 -- you will need to click the X that says install English settings even if you are logged on with English -- SKY says this error should be fixed soon -- just click the X and the error disappears while the program starts.

That is lousy from sky. Can you not go into the sky go app on your mobile or tablet and de-register the PC first and then log in to sky go on the anniversary updated computer. I've not tried it but that should free up the slot and then re fill the slot

    Hi there @Scottyboy99

No that doesn't work --there is a message saying you can only make 1 change per month !!!! that includes even a simple rename.

It's a totally BONKERS service -- the "Spiel" say you can have 2 or 4 registered devices (depending on Sky Go or SKY Go extra) but often you can't register them.

Depending on who you get at the call centre you *might* get them to reset the account so you can register 2 or 4 devices again.

Incidentally not only with SKY - but this seems to be happening more and more with call centres --you have to now SPEAK a load of requests into them instead of keyboard input -- well apart from the fact that the "Robot" doesn't understand my English I don't want to have to yell out Passwords or account numbers or other sensitive information for other people to hear !! and also if the Robot still can't understand you don't even get put through to a "Human" any more -- so it really is Phone menu Hell.

Banks and other services seem to be going in for these "Speak to the Robot" type of answering services -- Please give us lat least the option of Keyboard entry until we get to a proper Human. Surely no one wants to yell out loud Bank security details etc.

Just when you thought the whole call centre experience couldn't get any worse they've added this extra torture to the "service" . !!!!

    Cheers

    Hi there

Thanks for the suggestion - however by phoning the "Real" number --think it's in Birmingham (GB) - I managed finally to get a sympathetic Woman who reset the accounts and it's working again.

If I have trouble again that seems like a good idea.

What a pallava though -- I wouldn't have been bothered so much a month ago but I want the Premier League footie streams. !!!! I've paid the subscription so I want the service .

    Cheers
