@Crashed, I just tried it but no-go for me... but thanks for posting. I think it has to do with favorites that says coning soon. It worked perfectly in 10049 but I guess they want/need to do some tweaking. I have even checked store for updates but there aren't any, maybe one will come along soon, in any case I sent feedback explain the problem.

Ok. Sorry I couldn't help guys. I have a windows phone as well, and the weather app
on it, somehow knows the exact same thing my desktop app knows. I thought
maybe it all tied back to that. Guess not.

YAHOOOOO! I got the weather app and a couple of others fixed now!! Try opening up Run(right click windows icon choose Run and type wsreset to reset and clear windows store. Then reopen weather app and it will ask for a default location. I was reading another thread where someone had a problem with Store and jsir7 recommended that and it hit me(I had plumb forgot to try that). So I tried it and it fixed the problem with the weather app & live tile showing the wrong default, fixed the calendar & Email apps live tiles, plus I can now update using store beta.

ps I'm slowly getting forgetful of the easy fixes, and keep trying the complicated ones first

hi I am new to the tenforum.
even I had the same problem when I shifted to new location.

    now lets solve the problem.

    open the weather app
click on the favorites on left side of the app
now right click on launch location
you will find change location click on it

    now go to launch location
click on always detect my location .

it will show you your new location .

This seems to be a problem since several years. For me it was new and now I tried all recipes I found and nothing worked. The option for entering a new default location always was grayed out.
Now I found a surprisingly easy solution which worked for me:
Go to Setting>Apps&Features click on Weather, then “Advance Options” > Reset
After restarting Weather you can enter a new default location.
    Good luck!
