For anyone interested in 3rd party media players for Windows I find the K-Lite codec pack works a treat, can also install media player classic if you want. The reason for posting about it here is that I beleive the codecs are installed for general Windows apps to be able to access, so if you find there is a file type you can't play by default, this pack might help. It also has a very detailed configuration utility. I have been using the supplied codecs since Win 98 days without issues.
Finding the download link is a pain, it's right down the bottom of page past all the driver up daters and other crap.
    Here is the homepage Codec Guide: K-Lite Codec Pack - For Windows 10 / 8.1 / 7 / Vista / XP

Love the monkey. The monkey and I go wayyyy back. But I did get a little scared off. Maybe I'm stuck in the past but all these flat designs for apps and programs, I'm getting sick of lookin at em. When they first announced 5 that's the pic I saw. I'm sure there will be something else but MM never had a crazy amount of skinners skinnin.
I haven't looked yet... gotta go see what kinda features they maybe throwin in!

MM version 5 is now official released!
    Version 4 is now legacy

    MediaMonkey 5.0.0.2338
    Apr 21, 2021

Media Monkey site has also a new look.
For more infos see 1st post.

9 years after the first release of MediaMonkey 4, we're proud to announce MediaMonkey 5! It's a complete overhaul of MediaMonkey that includes a foundation for a more modern UI, a framework that allows MediaMonkey better integrate with cloud/music services, and allows MediaMonkey to eventually become cross-platform and support different form factors. It also improves developer interfaces so that it can be customized to a greater degree, and lays the groundwork to make it a more social experience.

While much of the work has focused on building a platform from which to grow, there are also many new features. These include: auto-tagging with audio-fingerprint-based lookups, casting to Google Cast devices, cloud synchronization/storage, improved search/filtering/auto-playlist functionality, playlist editing windows, improved play controls, artist/album information, and much more.

There are also some features that didn't make the cut in this release, mainly Virtual CD / Previews and CD burning. In addition, some functionality has changed. A summary of these changes is available here.

The a complete list of changes is available in the changelog.
