Hey, everyone. I just released a new version of Classic Shell.

    Here’s what’s new:

    • The start menu searches modern PC settings for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
    • Added new Midnight skin with dark background
    • Added new flat Metro skin that uses the start screen colors
    • New ability to apply settings from XML files from command line: use ClassicStartMenu.exe -xml
    • New setting to override the system DPI resolution only for the start menu
    • New setting to change the user picture
    • Improved support for touch and high resolution displays
    • Added support for Scottish, Catalan, Macedonian and Persian languages

@Ivo ,When did you release this? I just sent you a message early this morning on FB about the issue with Start Screen shortcut on 10056. I had a look at your website but I didn't see this 4.2.1 at the time. Thanks for this.

It was just released. Does the start screen shortcut work in 4.2.1?

FWIW... Start shortcut did not work with beta on 10056... I'm not sure what has changed since 10049...but there are problems with the MS menu in this build anyway, so let's see what the official release delivers.

For me the Start Screen shortcut is broken and the Apps folder does not open in both 4.2.0 beta and 4.2.1 when used in build 10056. And stranger still is that Shift-Windows key will bring up the XAML styled "Start Menu" but it is very unstable.

@Ivo , 4.2.1 didn't fix the issue. But don't worry for now. The problem is on build 10056 which is not an official release (leaked version). Maybe that's where the problem is. Plus, I am not really using Start Screen, just pointing out a small problem with classic shell on 10056. But everything works fine on 10049 with 4.2.1.
Thank you for the quick response. Very much appreciated.

Just to show you what the issue is (gif below), whenever I click the "Start Screen" shortcut, the start menu close down (or crash?):
