And that is why I never update my gpu drivers unless I absolutely have to (still on a 355 branch driver that seems to work great). Good work linking the two - as you mentioned in your post most people would not begin to suspect gpu drivers for blocking those services. Shocking show from nvidia. As there were 23 pages I didn't read much more but have nvidia acknowledged the issue? Their driver updates seem to be real Russian roulette judging by the amount of posts on that forum whenever a driver update comes out. I'd be very interested to see if the OP does have the 368 driver.

@ Scottyboy99 - Yes, ManuelG of the GeForce.com forum has told me that they have received my driver feedback detailing the issues in the linked forum. Someone, who has one of the same issues as me (the stub error), has told me that they have managed to replicate the issue but that may only be one them. This also may not be the issue that the opening poster is experiencing but I thought I'd mention it anyway in case it is.

It is really interesting that you bring this up. We had a laptop that I ended up sending back to the manufacturer. Terrible issues checking store updates, bringing up cortana news feed, logging into apps related to MS account such as photos, films/tv, weather for all users, child accounts unable to use edge. It would eventually all work after thirty mins or so and then be totally fine for the next 24 hours (even after reboots) but then it would happen again. Task scheduler was scrutinised and start up items cut back on but could never resolve. But it had nvidia Optimus, I can't for life of me remember the driver branch - I bet the nvidia driver was to blame though but it never occurred to us to update the driver as gpu related activities such as games and video was all spot on. Guess we will never know on this though but it would of solved many headaches and weeks and weeks of frustration before we eventually gave up

ManuelG has just confirmed on the Guru3D.com forum, another site I regularly post on, that NVIDIA have NOT been able to reproduce the issues but that they will keep trying until they do. Not very encouraging but I intend starting a thread over the weekend specifically for people with these issues so that we can share hardware and software details to try and find some commonality that we all share. I only hope it isn't just that we're using NVIDIA cards and drivers!!!

Very interested to follow this then, I don't go on those forums much but will try and take an active interest now. I guess this has made me even more determined to stick with the 355 driver branch my current desktop is on as I have no issues. I have the 980 ti and it works well on everything I've tried although I don't have many latest and greatest games - I guess being on older drivers might cost me a few fps here and there but it sounds like it's not worth the risk.

i suppose the other main difference between the desktop and laptop (apart from different driver branches) is the desktop does not have GeForce experience installed whilst the problematic laptop did. The desktop didn't have it pre installed by the manufacturer, just the driver set and I couldn't see value in it really. I wonder if this is screwing things up and whether the OP has this installed also.

Hey guys! Thanks for all of the help. I had to do a In Place Upgrade to fix it and it is now fixed. Also, the Facebook app is now fixed on my computer after doing an In Place Upgrade on it as well. This all occurred after the latest Facebook app update from the Windows Store on my computer and it all took place on my sister's computer after the recent system updates from June. I am thinking there were some bugs in those updates. I hope this helps someone who may run into this problem later on.
