    About Skype

    Hello Forum
I have in mind to install Skype on my win 10 pc. Made some search and learned that win 10 contains Skype, found somethind alike in the apps menu like in attached screenshot. When clicked on it - nothing happened.
I asked the technician (installed the system) - he did not install Skype. Making a search in my system I found some files as on screenshot attached. If they does not belong to Skype - what to do with them ?
    Answers will be always appreciated
    Thanks

It probably came with an update as Office 2016 seems to download Skype updates even if Skype is not installed.. If you wish to use Skype just download it from the Skype website and install

There's a built in "Skype for business" APP that just waits to be activated. It could be run concurrently with "Normal" Skype program. I have both of them and are usable.

I know that our Member @Kari, has a lot of experience with the various incarnations of Skype used on Windows 10 (This post should notify him of this Thread's existence)

Skype Video in Windows 10 TH2 version 1511 is not a full Skype client. It for instance does not allow signing in with an old Skype account, it only accepts Microsoft account sign ins.

If you sign in to Windows 10 with an MS account, Skype Video should automatically pick up the account credentials. Signing in to Windows with a local account, you need to enter valid MS account credentials when Skype Video is launched first time:

Next dialog let's you choose if you want to convert your Windows 10 local user account to an MS account (enter password and click Next), or keep your local user account and use the MS account only with Skype Video (Sign in to just this app instead):

When done, you can start using Skype Video with its limited features:

To really use Skype and enjoy all its features, download the Skype desktop app: Download Skype for Desktop Computer | Skype

It allows sign in with old traditional Skype account as well as with an MS account.

In latest Windows 10 Insider Builds the Skype Video app has been replaced with Skype Preview app which is a full Skype client. This app will be available for non-Insiders after the Anniversary Update coming end of July.
