Help with Windows Media Player context menu items

After my recent reinstallation of Windows 10, I no longer get the context menu options "Play with Windows Media Player" and "Add to Windows Media Player List" when I right click a folder containing videos which is set as "Videos" in the customization tab.

I've had those options for ages with Windows 7 and even in my previous installation of 10, so I have no idea why I don't get em anymore.

Is WMP set as your default player ? R-click any video in the folder and click 'Open with', go to bottom of list, Select 'Choose another app'. Select WMP from list and go to bottom and check box, 'Always use this app ... for this file type' and close. If you have mixed file content, do same for other types, like flv s, mp4, mkv, etc

Yes, WMP is set as the default for every video format. Just to make sure though, I did what you suggested for each of the videos in one of my folders that contained 4 or 5 different formats (each was set to open with WMP anyway) and it didn't do any good.

If you are only talking about the r-click options, try uninstalling and re-installing WMP. Go to Control Panel/Programs & Features. Left column, click 'Turn Windows features on or off' to open screenshot window. Expand Media Features. Uncheck WMP and let uninstall proceed (may need reboot). Do the same, and this time check WMP to reinstall. This happened to me recently with an old NET framework version and my browser and found it was missing some components when re-installing. It worked. This can't hurt and only takes a few minutes.

Even Winamp added its context menu items, is there a way to manually do the same with WMP in the registry or whatnot?

Hey, I noticed you never got a response, I know this is a tad bit old, but I scoured the internet to find myself an answer and came across this when I was looking for an answer, Anyway, I figured out a solution just now and just in case you'd still like one or someone else finds this, I'm including it now.

Right click on your video folder and select properties. Click on Customize and then select Music instead of Video, it adds the "Add to Windows Media Player List" option into the context menu.
