    Hi there.

Still using WINAMP (great for FLAC) and VLC on Local PC, Logitech Media server (Squeezebox Server) for playing on remote squeezeboxes etc and sometimes PLEX media server (also for remote playing -- this plays on things like remote TV's etc).

The Squeezebox system plays into networked Squeezeboxes -- still an excellent system with Optical output into a decent amplifier and proper speakers.

I prefer players that can handle FOLDERS / DIRECTORIES - both VLC and WINAMP can handle those --- most of the more modern players always seem to want you to split your music up into playlists / albums / genre / artists etc. Most of my music is from ripped CD's (WINAMP rips fine and tags as well) so it's much easier to use Folders. Also I prefer HQ music (FLAC for example) -- downloaded mp3's are too low quality for my taste.

    Cheers

Foobar2000 and MusicBee handles anything in anyway you can think of (OK, this is a bit too much :))

    They are all fine.

AIMP v4.0, Skins out the wazoo. Here is mine for now:

All the whistles and bells are working on this player. You may even build your own player with the AIMP skins sdk for that. Shoutcast and Icecast are the default radio station locators for pre programming your radio playlists although other with correct url code will work. Enjoy.

I use 5KPlayer. But at first I downloaded it not for audio playback, but for DVD playback on Windows 10.

    Hi there

For those who use VLC media player it can also be used for STREAMING video / music to remote devices. It's not a full blown media server in the sense of PLEX etc but it's very useful if you just want to stream to say a phone / tablet etc on odd occasions. A lot of people don't realize that VLC has the ability to stream audio / video.

Also VLC plays every codec (video and audio) known to man and also plays encrypted DVD's so you don't need to pay for DVD playing software.

How to Stream Videos and Music Over the Network Using VLC

iTunes primarily for me. Heavily invested in the apple eco system for phones and tablets. It's not everyone's cup of tea but it works fine for me. After that Windows Media Player. Groove would be good but it doesn't pick up many of the album art covers which puts me off it (not an uncommon issue having googled around)

VLC as mentioned is also good. But make sure you go for the traditional desktop software flavour. The modern app version of VLC that can be downloaded from the store seemed pretty disappointing.
