It means if you didn't opt in for the 15GB by going to this link(the offer is now expired): OneDrive , You only get 5GB, basically just enough to sync your OS settings with your OneDrive account, for a few devices, when using the same Microsoft account for them all, and maybe a few documents.
    Ok, thanks for the clarification.

    Hi All,
I just read this online, so the e-mail about reduced storage must be true.

Hi David, thanks for the link.

I now see that I'll need to make some changes soon, or open my wallet.

For anybody who missed it, it reads in part:

The storage limit for all free OneDrive accounts will become 5 GB. If you currently have a free account with a 15 GB storage limit, that limit will reduce to 5 GB. All new free accounts will have 5 GB storage. The 15 GB camera roll storage bonus will also be discontinued for free accounts. These changes will start rolling out in early 2016.

    Just a quick update.

I did just receive the below email from MS. This one was sent to the email account that I associate my OneDrive with. A bit confusing, as this completely contradicts the link from what Davy49 posted, and seems to confirm what Cliff S outlined. (Glad I nabbed the extra space when offered)

    Important changes to OneDrive

As you know, the amount of storage that comes with most OneDrive accounts is changing from 15 GB to 5 GB. You previously confirmed your desire to keep your 15 GB of free storage (and the 15 GB camera roll bonus if you have it).* As a result, your account will not be affected by these changes.

We also want to extend an offer that we are making available to users who are close to or will be over the new storage limits. You can claim a free one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal.** This subscription includes 1 TB of OneDrive storage.

We want to apologize for any inconvenience these changes may have caused you. We listened to our users’ feedback, and we are committed to making OneDrive the best option for people who want to be productive and do more.

    Thank you for using OneDrive.
