Okay, I've signed out of the green Store, run WSReset and then the powershell command, which this time seemed to work.
I've rebooted and tried Store Beta again.
It says I need to update and I click to do this, but then it can't do the update. Seems it's looking for something but can't find it. Does anyone know where I can look on the MS website for this Store Beta update please?
Maggie have you tried syncing your apps in the green app store(the Beta Store is just another app after all)?
Well I checked for updates and got nothing; I went into green Store and installed outstanding updates from there (none of which was the Store Beta; 4 didn't install). I checked that synchronize was set to 'on' for everything in account settings (couldn't find anything about synchronizing in the store).
Then I went to Store Beta in the full apps list off the Start and it worked!!!
I have no idea what changed, if anything. I was using the quick launch button at the bottom of the screen before, never tried from any other icon.
But for now it is working, so thanks for the suggestions; somewhere along the way it got sorted .
