    Perfect thanks, that was the only one that worked for me

    Thank you all this was driving me up the wall. A work around I found that sticks is to use the "set default by App" approach.

    ++++
    1. Open "Settings"
    2. Choose "System"
    3. Select "Default apps"
    4. Select "Set default by app" at the bottom
    5. Select "Google Chrome"
    6. Select "Choose defaults for this program"
    7. Click "Select All"
    8. Then "Save" The computer will indicate it is saving for about 2-4 seconds.
    9. Click "Ok" and close out any windows associated with this process and your done.

    I tried a bunch of different things including a reg update option and also the local vs MS Account stuff but this was the only one that worked. Thanks.

    MS plans to remove old control panel completely, once it does, we will not be able to set default apps.

    I would not be worry just yet. Half of the settings are still not converted to the new format, so it will be a few more years.
    Maybe they will fix the issues. But trusting MS?! They removed desktop, restored desktop, removed Start, restored Start.

    I've run into the same problem. However, mine has an added wrinkle. I took the advice from those who were "cured" and went to the alternate route of "Choose Defaults for This Program." Unfortunately, CHROME didn't show up in the list. Firefox was there but no chrome. I've attached pix as supporting doc. This stuff makes me absolutely crazy. Not to mention the Microsoft Edge processes that absolutely take over this machine and I don't even use the program - incredible.

    Anyone have any ideas on the Where's my Chrome for defaulting as an app?

    I would uninstall & reinstall Chrome for all users.

    dalchina - Thanks for the response but that wasn't really what I was looking for. I had already read through most of those responses and tried those fixes, unfortunately, to no avail. My issue was a little different.
