jpeg association program link keeps resetting

good day

thank you for helping in advance

jpeg association program link keeps resetting,

right click jpeg , properties, general - opens with - i choose windows photo viewer and save and exit

works fine , after a while or restart it get reset to basic picture view [windows 10 version]

how can i make it permanent?

Hello Ralph,

Just to verify, are you:

1) Clicking on Open with > "Choose another app"

2) Selecting the app you want to be set as default for .jpeg file

3) Checking "Always use this app to open .jpeg files"

If you haven't already, see if setting Windows Photo Viewer as your default app for Photo viewer in Settings may help it stick.

Hi, you can examine whether the change has been written to your registry using this free program:

jpeg association program link keeps resetting-1.jpg

Please use this and confirm you can see the change after you have made it.

Have you tried double clicking a jpg after you've changed the association- what happens?

You said

after a while or restart

you find it resets.

Please try a clean boot and retry.

Thanks for all the feed back , Months later i have yet to fix this .

Now even if I change the file association for JPEG file to Windows Image Viewer it never sets it in as default .
Now every double click on a JPG gives me the Windows 10 default picture viewer , which is not what i want .
