    Start Menu Icon Problem

So I upgraded to Windows 10 and so far everything seems to be working fine however the one problem I've had is a problem with the icons for Google Chrome and Origin on the start menu. The Chrome icon is really over sized compared to what it should be and is on a black background and the Origin icon has a black background. I've looked everywhere online and can't find a solution, I don't really want to reinstall Google Chrome, I reinstalled origin and it didn't fix it. I know that there must be a fix because they are working fine on my sisters laptop.

Please can someone help me find a solution
This is what it looks like:

I want it to look like my sisters does:

Also even though I've tried updating it, chrome still looks like the windows 7 version than the windows 10.

    No answers from me.
Just to show you my Chrome tile. Same as yours.

    @ tomnav12:
    Welcome to tenforums.com,

Many programs like to use their own visuals,
You could change the 'default' Chrome contextuals by navigating to the highlighted folder, copy the 2 png's to your desktop, open them in Paint, change the background color, then re-merge them to the folder, then restart:

Perhaps you could do the same with 'Origin'.

good advice in this thread, except nobody told you how to actually shrink the icon. you may go and resize the image to be smaller, and find that it doesn't do anything. I use photoshop usually, but I took some screenshots with paint.net to show you my results. I had the same issue as you, and I'm assuming it's just the new version of chrome we're using.

you need to increase the canvas size of the image, but leave the logo the same so that you don't lose quality. windows is recognizing the logo from the file and stretching it to fit it's pre-determined dimensions, sort of the same way facebook does with your default and cover photos. by making the canvas bigger, the logo will display in the start menu smaller.

if you aren't a graphics guy, I went ahead and uploaded the modified images for you to use so that you don't have to worry about maintaining the background transparency (it's a little tricky).

copies of logo images for you to use:

    rename to logo.png https://i.imgur.com/HTqFM8N.png
    rename to smalllogo.png https://i.imgur.com/oIRM8f2.png

note: keep in mind your file revision might be different than mine, so that string of numbers in the path to the place to put those files might be slightly different.
